Why truth was allowed to die

We have been pointing out that the promotion of fake news or Photoshop will not remain a silent killer for a mediocre society; rather, it will become a spoiler for the West also. Capitalism’s main tools to control and formulate world opinion started with VOA & BBC during the Cold War era. When they got exposed, CNN came to dine on world opinion during Operation Desert Storm in the Middle East. Then, to fool Muslims, Al Jazeera TV was launched to hold a grip on viewers and make them believe in their propaganda.

Corporate culture was launched on the crutches of WTO to establish a one-world government. Followed by economic reforms and liberalization propaganda developed before the Trade War started but failed to deliver. On the sidelines, experiments went on and brought the biggest curse for humanity due to its maximum abuse. Artificial intelligence’s negative results are changing the canvas where truth is dying because of the growth of social media in the hands of uncivilized mafias. Fake news used for character assassination has become a lucrative business, and institutions are now crying after feeling the brunt when the peace of the public has already been thrown to the winds.

Lamentation

on Gaza

The residents of Gaza are living in constant fear and through unimaginable hardships due to the Israel-Hamas war. Stories of resilience of the people stuck in the war-torn region as they struggle to survive have touched many hearts around the world. The people of Gaza are not mere statistics or headlines; they are mothers, daughters, sisters and sons who deserve to live in a safe environment.

They should not have to live with the constant fear of violence and displacement or a lack of access to basic necessities like medicine, food and clean water. The impact of this crisis goes beyond physical harm. It will leave lasting scars on the hearts and minds of those who survive. News reports have indicated that Israel is not prepared to halt the war. Tel Aviv is also not allowing any country that wants to provide humanitarian aid. Such restrictions come under the category of cruelty.

Festival of Holi

The festival of Holy was celebrated on March 25 all around the globe. The Hindu community in Pakistan also participated in the festivities and were rightly supported by the progressive circles of the country as well as the Government and other stakeholders.

It is crucial that respect for all religions and their rituals is observed across country. This will lead us to a new environment of peace, coexistence and brotherhood. All religions call for peace, and therefore, it is necessary that everyone is allowed to practice their religion without any hindrance.

The govt of Pakistan, with the collaboration of religious leadership and academic scholars should devise a strategy to promote religious tolerance. The role of media will be crucial in this regard. Proliferating messages of brotherhood and inclusivity may lead Pakistan to more stable and positive tomorrow.

Rectify holidays decision

Last year, the holidays were declared from Eid ul Adha day and at that time I spoke that one day before leave should be given as everyone has to travel to their hometowns for various occasions. Now, the met officer has said that Eid ul Fitr is likely to be Wednesday 10 April and the government has declared holidays from 10 April. I think that the government should take into account the priorities of the employees all over the country.

At the very least, the government should add 9th April as a holiday for the employees who work in other cities. They are confused as to whether they should attend the office or go to their hometown where they celebrate Eid. Eid is a joyful event and everyone celebrates it with their family and friends. They want to spend Chaand Raat with their loved ones not in a tiring travel. The government should correct their decision and make it right for their people.

Addressing extremism

Extremism not only threatens the stability and harmony of our society but also undermines our global reputation and economic growth. The recent spate of violent incidents and radicalization efforts underscores the urgent need for a comprehensive strategy to combat this menace. However, tackling extremism requires more than just security measures. It demands a multifaceted approach that addresses the root causes, including socio-economic disparities, lack of education and political marginalization. As citizens of Pakistan, it is incumbent upon us to stand united against extremism and promote a vision of peace, moderation and progress. This requires the concerted efforts of government, civil society, religious leaders and the media. Let us not allow extremism to define our nation’s narrative. Together, let us strive for a Pakistan where all individuals can live freely and pursue their dreams without fear of violence or discrimination.
