TURKISH President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is a visionary and charismatic leader who is widely regarded for his humanistic posture and supporting the causes of oppressed people. Lambasting oppressors with bravery, courage and truthfulness are his hallmarks and he does it in such a way that other Muslim leaders could never dare.
The way Erdogan has forcefully presented the case of Muslim world is inspiring and no doubt he has emerged as a top most popular leader in the Islamic world. In fact his thinking is not confined to welfare and well being of Turkish people but he has always kept interests of entire Muslim world at the forefront. He does not mince words while speaking for oppressed Muslims. This shows how much he cares and worries for the Muslim world. Nobody can forget his open heartedness towards Syrian refugees when the so-called champions of human rights in Europe shut their doors on them. When other major leaders opted for silence over massacre of Muslims in New Delhi, it was again the Turkish President who hit out at the Indian government for allowing violence against Muslims.
During his most recent visit to Pakistan, Erdogan emphatically supported the oppressed Kashmiri people that also irked the Indian side. Then his stance on the Palestinian issue is also not hidden from anybody. In this backdrop, it will not be wrong to say that Muslims consider Erdogan as a genuine leader of the Muslim world. Reforms by Tayyip Erdogan within Turkey are also matchless as these have given economic stability to his country and made it a manufacturing and export powerhouse. It is also time for other Muslim leaders to attain economic and political stability so that they could flex their muscles and show courage to call a spade a spade. It is only through collective efforts that Muslim world can help oppressed ones and steer the Muslim world out of multifaceted problems. There is dire need to strengthen the OIC to make its voice more effective.
