An eight-year-old girl was allegedly set on fire by her stepfather in Karachi’s Landhi area, as reported by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Korangi Hasan Sardar. The man, identified as Tariq, reportedly committed the heinous act on February 16, leaving the girl, named Vaniya, with severe burns.
Shockingly, the girl’s mother, Rabia, kept the incident hidden from authorities due to fear of her husband. It was revealed that Tariq, during a fit of rage, assaulted the girl before dousing her in petrol and igniting her. Despite sustaining critical injuries, Vaniya survived the ordeal.
Rabia, the plaintiff, detailed the harrowing event, recounting her attempts to intervene as her husband perpetrated the horrific act.
