The Education Department of Sindh revealed on Tuesday that more than 600 staff members have been identified as ‘ghost employees’. The District Education Officer (DEO) formally issued a list following concerns raised by the Chief Monitoring Officer (CMO). Prompted by the flagged issue, the Deputy DEO has launched inquiries and requested responses from relevant education officers concerning the absent employees.
The list encompasses employees from various categories, including primary, secondary, middle school teaching, and non-teaching staff. According to the DEO’s report, the identified employees were absent from their duties between August 2023 and February 2024, raising concerns about their status as ghost or fugitive employees.
Taking proactive measures, the Deputy District Education Officer (DEO) is actively seeking explanations from officers regarding the absentee and missing employees.
