Islamabad, Pakistan weather update; more rain, snowfall expected

ISLAMABAD – More rain-wind/thunderstorms with snowfall over the hills and isolated hailstorms are likely in Islamabad and parts of Pakistan on Monday evening/night, Tuesday and Wednesday.

As per the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), a westerly wave prevails over northeastern Balochistan. Another westerly wave will likely enter western parts on Tuesday evening/night. It will likely grip most upper parts of the country on Wednesday.

Under these conditions, rain-wind/thunderstorms with snowfall over the hills are likely in north/northeastern Balochistan, Gilgit-Baltistan, upper Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, and Islamabad, central/south Punjab, Kashmir and adjoining hilly areas on Monday evening /night.

On Tuesday and Wednesday, rain-wind/thunderstorms with snowfall over the hills are expected in Balochistan, upper Sindh, Islamabad, south Punjab, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir and adjoining hilly areas.

Islamabad’s minimum temperatures will likely remain between 10-12 degrees Celsius on Tuesday and 11-13 C on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, cold and partly cloudy weather prevailed in most parts of the country during the last 24 hours. Freezing weather prevailed in northern parts. However, rain occurred at isolated places in Balochistan, upper Sindh and Jhang.

Balochistan: Dalbandin 18, Kalat 06, Quetta (Samungli 05, City 04), Lasbella 03

Punjab: Jhang 01

Kalam remained the coldest place in the country where temperature dropped 04 C below freezing.

In Islamabad, minimum temperature was recorded at 11 C. Relative humidity during the morning was recorded at 78 per cent.
