Peshawar, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa weather; rains, snowfall predicted

PESHAWAR – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted rain-wind/thunderstorms with snowfall over the hills and isolated hailstorms for Peshawar and parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Monday evening/night, Tuesday and Wednesday.

As per the synoptic situation, a westerly wave prevails over northeastern Balochistan. Another westerly wave will likely enter western parts of Pakistan on Tuesday evening/night. It will likely grip most upper parts of the country on Wednesday.

Under these conditions, rain-wind/thunderstorms with snowfall over the hills are likely in Dera Ismail Khan, Bannu, Kohat, Kurram, Khyber, Bajaur, Dir, Chitral, Kohistan, Swat, Shangla, Peshawar, Abbottabad and Buner on Monday evening/night.

On Tuesday and Wednesday, rain-wind/thunderstorms with snowfall over the hills and isolated hailstorms are likely in Waziristan, Kohat, Lakki Marwat, Bannu, Dera Ismail Khan, Chitral, Dir, Swat, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Haripur, Kohistan, Shangla, Buner Bajaur, Karak, Khyber, Peshawar, Charsadda, Nowshera, Swabi, Mardan and Kurram.

Peshawar’s minimum temperatures will likely remain between 10-12 degrees Celsius on Tuesday and 11-13 C on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, cold and partly cloudy weather prevailed in Peshawar and most parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during the last 24 hours. Freezing weather prevailed in upper districts.

Kalam remained the coldest place in the province where temperature dropped 04 C below freezing.

In Peshawar, minimum temperature was recorded at 11 C. Relative humidity during the morning was recorded at 68 per cent.
