The All Parties Hurriyat Conference has said that the people of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir are suffering due to unresolved Kashmir dispute, pending with the United Nations for the past over seven decades.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the APHC spokesman, Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas, in a statement issued in Srinagar said India has continued its military and violent policy to suppress the genuine demand of the Kashmiris for their right to self-determination.
He emphasized that at least five lakh Kashmiris had sacrificed their lives for freedom from India since 1947 and they would not compromise on their inalienable right.
The spokesman said Kashmir is a humanitarian issue which needs resolution in its historical background and according to the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.
Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas said Kashmir is a very sensitive issue which has endangered peace in the entire South Asia. Better relations between India and Pakistan can only sustain after settlement of the lingering dispute as per will of the Kashmiri people, he added.
He also demanded release of all illegally detained Kashmiri political leaders, including APHC Chairman Masarrat Aalam Butt, Muhammad Yasin Malik, Shabbir Ahmed Shah, Aasiya Andrabi and Nayeem Ahmed Khan, languishing in different jails of India and the occupied territory.
He said India has stepped up its repression in IIOJK and a large number of Kashmiri youth has been arrested and taken to unknown destinations for torture and humiliation.
The spokesman called upon the United Nations to intervene and settle the Kashmir dispute so that permanent peace could be established in South Asia.—KMS
