Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has emphasized the need of expediting the privatization process of those State Owned Enterprises, causing constant dent to the national exchequer, to stabilize the national economy and provide maximum relief to the common man.
While chairing a high level meeting here on Thursday, he said that obstacles in the process of privatization should be removed at earliest so that the country and the nation can get rid of billions of rupees losses and the economic condition can be improved.
Premier Shehbaz Sharif also directed to take immediate steps to enhance the required capacity of the departments linked with the privatization process.
Reviewing the complete list and progress report of all the institutions involved in the privatization process, he directed to submit the details of actions and goals with a clear determination of time frame.
The prime minister also directed the Privatization Commission and the Ministry to present pending issues related to privatization soon after the formation of the cabinet so that the cabinet could timely decide and solve the matter. He said there was no room for further delay in the process.
On the proposal of handing over the power distribution companies to the provinces, he directed to constitute a review committee, which would submit its recommendations to the prime minister.
PM Shehbaz made it clear that the mutual respect, religious and cultural affinity and shared values. He expressed the confidence that the fraternal bilateral ties would keep flourishing in the times to come. “Looking forward to working closely with my brother for mutual benefit of the peoples of the two brotherly countries,” he remarked.
He also thanked Amir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Deputy Amir and Qatari PM for their messages of felicitations. “Pakistan cherishes its brotherly ties with Qatar and I look forward to working closely with His Highness to further strengthen our exemplary bonds of friendship,” he remarked.—APP
