LAHORE – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted rain-wind/thunderstorms with isolated hailstorm and snowfall over the mountains for parts of Punjab on Monday evening/night and Tuesday (February 26-27).
As per the synoptic situation, a westerly wave will likely enter Balochistan on Sunday night (February 25). It will likely grip the upper parts of the country on Monday (February 26).
Under the influence of this weather system, light to moderate rain-wind/thunderstorms with snowfall over the hills is likely in Murree, Galyat, Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mianwali, Khushab, Sargodha, Bhakkar, Layyah and Dera Ghazi Khan on February 26 evening/night & February 27 (Monday, Tuesday). Isolated hailstorms may also occur during this period.
Possible Impacts and advises: Snowfall may disrupt traffic in Murree, Galyat and surroundings. Wind thunderstorms may damage loose structures like electric poles, solar panels, etc. Farmers and tourists are advised to remain extra cautious during the spell.
In Lahore, minimum temperature will likely remain between 09-11 degrees Celsius on Saturday and 10-12 C on Sunday.
Meanwhile, cold and dry weather prevailed in Lahore and most parts of Punjab during the last 24 hours. Freezing weather prevailed in Murree, Galyat and surroundings.
Murree remained the coldest place in the province where temperature dropped 01 C below freezing. Relative humidity during the morning was recorded at 76 per cent.
In Lahore, minimum temperature was recorded at 10 C. Relative humidity during the morning was recorded at 66 per cent.
