ISLAMABAD – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Thursday decided to hold intra-party elections on March 3.

The PTI announced the schedule for intra-party elections, under which nomination papers can be submitted on February 23rd and 24th.

The candidates can submit their nomination papers to both central and provincial secretariats digitally via email.

The scrutiny of nominations will take place on February 25th, and decisions on the nominations would be finalized by February 27th.

The polling for intra-party elections will be held on March 3rd, simultaneously at all provincial secretariats and the central office.

The PTI’s Federal Election Commissioner Rauf Hassan issued the schedule for intra-party elections.

All registered members of PTI can cast their votes for their preferred panel or chairman’s candidate while the party members can also record their votes through the intra-party election module application.

Only registered members will be allowed to vote.

Detailed guidelines for the election process are available in the Election Rules, 2020, accessible on the website and the application.

Previously, the PTI had issued a formal schedule for intra-party elections, according to which PTI’s intra-party elections were scheduled for February 5th.

However, later, the decision to postpone the party elections was announced.

PTI’s central leader Barrister Gohar Ali Khan had stated that intra-party elections could distract candidates and voters from the general elections, leading to the decision that the party elections would be held after the general elections.
