LAHORE – Prices of various cars, including Honda City, are set to hit new high in Pakistan after the caretaker federal government has given nod for imposition of additional 25 percent Sales Tax on locally manufactured and assembled vehicles.
As the South Asian country is grappling financial woes, the government is taking measures to generate more revenue in line with the demands made by the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
The 25 percent sales tax will be levied on locally made cars, targeting four-wheelers priced at or above Rs4 million or those with engines over 1400 cc.
