PSL 2024 kicks off with glitzy opening ceremony

Pakistan Super League season 9 (PSL 9) opening ceremony added glamour and glitz to Saturday evening at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium where Lollywood stars set the stage on fire.

Rockstars Ali Zafar and Aima Baig stunned everybody with PSL 9 anthem and fans were also treated to performances by Arif Lohar and ‘Noori’ band. Singers and performers were reverberating around the stage, surprising the crowd with blasting songs.

Fans, who waited all year for action, saw spectacular performances by music maestros like Natasha Baig and Leo Twins.

Pakistan Super League season 9 starts from Lahore and the action will move to Multan and Rawalpindi with the final of marquee event to be held at Karachi’s National Bank Stadium on March 18.

The first game of PSL 9 is closely watched fixture between Lahore Qalandars and Islamabad United.

The country’s top cricket league is being held in two legs with Multan Cricket Stadium and Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium hosting 14 matches between them from February 17 to 27.

The action then moves to Rawalpindi’s Pindi Cricket Stadium and Karachi’s National Bank Stadium, where 16 matches will be held from February 28 to March 12. The event will then move to Karachi in its entirety for the playoffs.

Karachi Kings, Lahore Qalandars, Multan Sultans, and Islamabad United will play 5 games at their respective home grounds, while Zalmi will be in action in four matches at Pindi Cricket Stadium.

Quetta Gladiators will play three matches each in Karachi, Lahore, and Rawalpindi, with one match at Multan Cricket Stadium against the home side Sultans on February 25.
