The President of the SITE Association of Industry, Muhammad Kamran Arbi, has strongly criticized the recent escalation in gas tariffs approved by the Economic Coordination Committee and the caretaker government. He has called upon Caretaker PM Anwarul Haq Kakar, Federal Minister for Commerce, Industries Dr. Gohar Ejaz, and Minister for Energy Muhammad Ali to rescind the decision to hike gas tariffs, citing its detrimental impact on the national economy and industrial sector. Arbi cautioned that failure to retract the decision could lead to the closure of industries, exacerbating the decline in exports and triggering widespread unemployment. In a plea, Arbi highlighted the business community’s anticipation of a reduced electricity tariff of 9 cents per KWh under the caretaker government’s assurances.
