ISLAMABAD – The police enforced Section 144 in the federal capital and barred any unlawful assembly and gathering on Friday.
Taking to X, the spokesperson of the federal capital policy said that Section 144 was enforced. He said that peaceful protests were the right to everyone but permission would not be granted for any unlawful activity.
He said that the legal action would be taken against those adopting or inciting the violence.
He also asked the citizens to report any unlawful activity to 15 or on the ICT Police app.
The announcement from Islamabad Police came a day after Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf called for protests against alleged rigging in the general elections. The PTI called for protests against election results; the party leadership called for a sit-in in front of the DC office in the Red Zone.
The workers would rally from the Press Club to the DC office.
PTI’s rules for protests:
The party leadership issued rules and regulations for the sit-in; no worker would participate in the sit-in wearing a mask, and those wearing masks would be handed over to the police. The workers would follow the instructions of the present leadership while remaining peaceful.
The private and government properties and police officers would not be harmed. The Commissioner and SSP would ensure security, so that individuals dressed in simple clothes could not sabotage the sit-in.
Only one side of Khyber Road would be closed to avoid traffic disruption.
PTI leader Hamad Azhar had earlier announced that all candidates and workers in Punjab should start preparing for peaceful protests on an urgent basis.
He had said that the date and location of the protest would be announced later.
Meanwhile, the PTI decided to participate in the Grand Democratic Alliance’s protest against alleged electoral fraud. The PTI spokesperson stated that a 5-member delegation from PTI Sindh will participate in the Grand Democratic Alliance’s protest. They said that we will participate fully in the protest announced by GDA. It should be noted that a few days ago, GDA announced a sit-in on February 16th at Hyderabad Bypass, rejecting the election results.
