PESHAWAR – Maulana Fazlur Rehman, the head of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F), on Wednesday challenged the victory of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) supported candidate and former Speaker of the National Assembly Asad Qaiser in constituency NA-19 Swabi.

Maulana Fazlur Rehman approached the Peshawar High Court and the Election Commission of Pakistan to challenge the victory of Asad Qaisar.

Maulana Fazl submitted that before the election, some returning officers were bribed, and there is an evident contradiction in two different Form 47 of the Returning Officer (RO).

The JUI-F chief appealed to the Election Commission of Pakistan to stop the notification of Asad Qaiser’s success and order a recount of the votes.

It may be mentioned here that according to the unofficial and initial results of the general elections held on February 8, Asad Qaiser secured victory from NA-19 Swabi while Maulana Fazlur Rehman remained second.

According to Form 47 issued by the Election Commission, Asad Qaiser secured 115,635 votes while Maulana Fazlur Rehman secured 45,567 votes remaining second.
