Authorities in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir have put senior leader of All Parties Hurriyat Conference Mirwaiz Umar Farooq under house arrest at his residence, today.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Anjuman Auqaf in a statement issued in Srinagar, strongly denouncing the repeated house arrest of Mirwaiz, said that he was put under house detention to prevent him from visiting Srinagar Jamia Masjid and participating in the mandatory Friday prayers.

The Anjuman said a large gathering of people were expected at the mosque to hear the Mirwaiz’s sermon and participate in the blessed congregation. But early in the morning, a contingent of police vehicles was stationed outside his residence and he was detained, it deplored.

It is pertinent to mention that since his release from house arrest in September last year, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has been allowed to deliver Friday sermons on three Fridays only.—KMS
