Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi, Hafiz Naeemur Rehman, has sounded the alarm over alleged electoral malpractice in the upcoming Karachi elections. During a packed press conference, expressing grave concerns, Rehman highlighted reports indicating pre-planned exchanges of polling officers and the provision of extra ballot papers aimed at manipulating the election outcome.
These revelations, he emphasized, raise serious doubts about the transparency of the electoral process, squarely placing the responsibility on the Election Commission. In response, Jamaat-e-Islami has pledged to resist any attempts at fraud, mobilizing youth committees to safeguard the integrity of the elections.
They urge all genuine participants to remain vigilant against such malpractices, emphasizing the importance of upholding the sanctity of votes, seats, and mandates. Meanwhile, the recent threats issued by Bilawal Bhutto Zardari during a rally in Sanghar, warning Karachi of dire consequences if not voted for PPP, have further heightened tensions. Jamaat-e-Islami asserts the need for allowing Karachi’s true victor to prevail without external interference.
Public opinion surveys consistently underscore Jamaat-e-Islami’s popularity in Karachi, branding MQM and PPP as unpopular choices.
Addressing a press conference at the Idara Nood Haq and speaking at a large gathering in his constituency, Rehman shed light on the complex situation in the FC area due to forced evacuations and demolition orders. Jamaat-e-Islami demands legal action against the occupants of FC area quarters and calls for alternative arrangements to be made for residents in accordance with the law. Criticizing the policies of other political parties, Hafiz Naeem emphasized the need for genuine representation in Karachi, rejecting the tactics of intimidation and feudal dominance.
Jamaat-e-Islami expresses readiness to cooperate with the provincial government’s committee investigating controversial exam results and vows to propose solutions aligning with Karachi’s manifesto. Prioritizing the resolution of educational issues, Jamaat-e-Islami pledges to utilize Sindh’s education budget for the benefit of every citizen. Naeem stressed the essential role of a federal and provincial government in Karachi’s functioning, emphasizing that the electoral campaign is about securing the legitimate rights of Karachi’s populace. He called upon Karachi’s youth to courageously pursue education, affirming Jamaat-e-Islami’s support. In light of MQM and PPP’s alleged collusion, Hafiz Naeem urged Karachi’s citizens to reject urban and rural landlords through their votes. During his campaign in the South district, Naeem interacted with residents, addressing corner meetings alongside candidates Fazlur Rehman Niazi and Abdul Rashid.
