LAHORE – The provincial governments and Islamabad administration have declared a public holiday on Feb 5 on account of Kashmir Day (Feb), besides announcing the closure of schools from Feb 6 to 9 for general elections.

Pakistan will go into elections on Feb 8 with people casting their votes to their favourite candidates. Authorities establish polling centres at public and private educational institutions and other places for the voting process. It is the reason the educational institutions are closed owing to security reasons.

Practically, the schools, colleges, and universities will observe nine holidays, starting from Feb 3 to 11 as there are four day-offs due to weekends.

The educational institutions are closed on Saturdays and Sundays in the country. As there is Saturday on Feb 3 the holidays will practically begin from this day.

The holidays announced by the government will end on Friday (Feb 9) followed by two weekly offs on Feb 10 and 11 (Saturday and Sunday).

The educational institutions will resume their activities from Feb 12 across the country.

Later, there will be four more weekly offs on Feb 17, 18, 24 and 25 in the month of February.
