EU delegation discusses election security with Brig Haris

Pakistan: A four-member delegation from the European Union (EU) held discussions with Sindh Caretaker Minister for Home and Prison, Brig. (Retd) Haris Nawaz, alongside Provincial Home Secretary Iqbal Memon. The meeting focused on detailed arrangements for the upcoming 2024 elections, with a special emphasis on law and order measures and administrative setups to ensure fair and transparent polls.

During the meeting, the Home Minister provided a comprehensive briefing on the security measures in place, emphasizing the government’s commitment to collaborating with the Election Commission of Pakistan for the transparent conduct of elections. He assured the delegation of the caretaker government’s impartiality and underscored their constitutional responsibility to ensure security for voters and contesting candidates.

The government, he added, is diligently taking measures to fulfill this duty in a proper and effective manner.

The European Union (EU) delegation hoped with the positive note that the caretaker government, ECP, will be able to hold free and fair elections in accordance with the constitution of Pakistan.
