PESHAWAR – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted the prevailing cold wave and foggy weather to persist in Peshawar and the plains of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during the weekend.
As per the synoptic situation, a shallow westerly wave prevails over the western and upper parts of Pakistan.
It is likely to affect southwestern parts of the country.
Under these conditions, mainly cold and dry weather is expected in Peshawar and most districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Friday evening/night, Saturday and Sunday.
Freezing and partly cloudy weather is expected in upper districts.
Dense fog/smog is likely to persist in the plains of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (Charsadda, Mardan, Nowshera, Swabi, Peshawar, Lakki Marwat, Bannu, Dera Ismail Khan and surroundings).
Peshawar’s minimum temperature will likely remain between 01-02 degrees Celsius on Saturday and Sunday.
Meanwhile, cold and dry weather prevailed in Peshawar and most districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during the last 24 hours.
Freezing weather prevailed in upper districts.
Kalam remained the coldest place in the province where mercury dropped 06 C below freezing.
In Peshawar, the minimum temperature was recorded at 03 C.
Relative humidity during the morning was recorded at 91 per cent.
Dense fog/smog prevailed in the plains which disrupted traffic on inter and intra-city roads.
