The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) President, Mehbooba Mufti, has denounced summoning of political leaders by investigating agencies, saying the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has become part of the Indian government’s election process.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Mehbooba Mufti talking to reporters in Srinagar said whenever elections are going to take place in the territory, the Indian government employs Enforcement Directorate (ED), National Investigation Agency (NIA), Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and others to summon political leaders. This is all aimed to harass political leaders, she added. Mehbooba Mufti was replying to the summoning of National Conference President Farooq Abdullah who was directed by the ED authorities to appear himself before ED office in Srinagar, however, due to his weak health conditions he couldn’t visit the ED office yesterday.—KMS
