Dr. GhulamNabi Fai Chairman of Washington-based International Kashmir Awareness Forum has decried Modi government’s persistent violation of basic right of the Kashmiris to choose their future destiny. In his urgent appeal tweeted Tuesday to the President of ICJ, US President Joe Biden, Secretaries Generals UN Antonio Guterres and OIC Secretary General Hissein Brahim Taha and Chairman UNHRC, Dr. Fai asked them for taking Indian government to account for the unabashed violation of the UN charter by denying implementation of UN rulings on Kashmir dispute.
In his message texted Tuesday to Daily Pakistan Observer Islamabad Dr. Ghulam Nabi Fai said that violation of UN mandate on Kashmir dispute is a gross disrespect to the UN charter and criminal violation of the international law and regional peace obligations. For this willful violation Indian government of Narendra Modi qualifies to be made to account for the crime of trampling upon international obligation vis-a-vis Jammu and Kashmir dispute listed by the UNO on India’s own reference in January 1948, Dr Fai pleads.
“The UN Kashmir resolutions embody the only principle on whose basis a just and durable settlement of the problem can be achieved and that is Right of Self-determination to Kashmiris. Both India and Pakistan stand committed to this unambiguous sacrosanct principle. But the Modi government in India violates this principle needing prompt institutional notice by the peace bodies world over”, the message reads.
