An election tribunal, accepting the appeals, declared Jamshed Dasti eligible to contest upcoming elections scheduled to be held on Feb 8.
Jamshed Dasti was declared eligible to contest polls from NA 175 and NA 176. Advocate Rana Asif Saeed and Amer Bhutta advanced arguments. Dasti had filed appealed against returning officers’ decision and prayed that his nomination papers be accepted to vie for election from NA 175, 176 and PP 269 and PP 271.

The tribunal after the arguments cleared Dasti to contest polls from NA 175 and NA 176. However, on the other hand Election Tribunal on Monday rejected nomination papers of former chief minister Parvez Elahi and his wife Qaisra Elahi. Justice Chaudhry Abdul Aziz announced the reserved verdict upholding returning officer’s decision to bar them from contesting elections.—INP
