The Pakistan People’s Party has summoned the Chief Executive Committee meeting on January 3 (Wednesday) to discuss crucial matters related to the upcoming general election in 2024, the sources privy to the development said on Monday.
The PPP’s top decision-making body is expected to hold deliberations on significant decisions concerning the party’s strategy for the upcoming polls, with a particular focus on the inclusion of new members into the party fold.
According to the sources, the party leadership would aim to apprise party members of different developments and entrust responsibilities in preparation for the fast approaching elections.
Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, they said, would travel to Lahore to attend the CEC meeting while Co-chairman Asif Zardari would join the proceedings via video link.
The sources said that PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari would lead the election campaign while Asif Ali Zardari would oversee the nationwide election campaign of the Pakistan People’s Party.
“A schedule of public meetings to be addressed by the party’s top leadership is currently being prepared,” said the sources. The party chairman would address election rallies in all four provinces.
“Zardari will focus on public meetings in Punjab and Balochistan,” they added.
They also said that Aseefa Bhutto Zardari, the daughter of Asif Ali Zardari, is also expected to participate in some public meetings alongside Bilawal Bhutto.
The latter is scheduled to address public meetings at key constituencies and Division-level party gatherings.
