In a groundbreaking humanitarian effort, Mr. Yasin Joyia, Honorary Consul General of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, has orchestrated the successful implantation of 100 corneas from Sri Lanka to Pakistan. This remarkable initiative has not only restored vision to those in need but has also strengthened the bonds of friendship and collaboration between the two nations.

Mr. Joyia’s unwavering dedication to the humanitarian cause has played a pivotal role in making this initiative a reality. His commitment to fostering international cooperation for the betterment of humanity has exemplified the true spirit of goodwill.

All 100 corneal implantations were conducted free of cost in different hospitals including CMH Rawalpindi, DHQ Gujranwala, Bahawal Victoria Hospital Bahawalpur and Mughal Eye Hospital trust, Lahore, reflecting the selfless and altruistic nature of this endeavor. The recipients, hailing from various walks of life, are now experiencing the world through the eyes of generosity and compassion.

The collaborative effort between Sri Lanka and Pakistan in this medical mission has not only provided a renewed sense of hope to those facing visual challenges but has also set an inspiring precedent for future cross-border collaborations in the field of healthcare.

“We believe in a world where borders do not limit compassion and the spirit of giving knows no boundaries.

The successful implantation of these corneas is a testament to the power of international collaboration for the greater good,” stated Mr. Yasin Joyia, whose leadership and vision have been instrumental in the realization of this project.

The impact of this initiative extends beyond medical procedures-it symbolizes the shared commitment of Sri Lanka and Pakistan to create a world where healthcare is a universal right. The exchange of corneas signifies not only the transfer of sight but also the fostering of understanding and friendship between the peoples of the two nations.

As Pakistanis are now seeing the world through Sri Lankan eyes, this initiative stands as a shining example of how individuals, regardless of nationality, can come together to make a profound difference in the lives of others.

The significance of this effort was underscored by Admiral Ravindra C Wijegunaratne (Retd), the new High Commissioner of Sri Lanka in Islamabad, who expressed profound appreciation for Mr. Yasin Joyia’s relentless dedication to humanitarian causes.
