Illegally detained Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front Chairman, Muhammad Yasin Malik, appeared through video-link before a TADA court in Jammu in false cases registered over three decades ago.

Muhammad Yasin Malik is presently lodged in New Delhi’s infamous Tihar jail. He was sentenced to life imprisonment by a special court of India’s dreaded National Investigation Agency (NIA) in a false case in May, last year. Yasin Malik and another Hurriyat leader ille-gally detained in Srinagar Central Jail, Muhammad Rafiq Nannaji, appeared before the TADA court through video-conferencing in the false cases related to the abduction in 1989 of Rubaiya Saeed, the sister of Peoples Democratic Party chief, Mehbooba Mufti, and killing of four Indian Air Force (IAF) personnel in 1990.

The court fixed the next hearing in the case of the killing of the IAF personnel on January 18, 2024 and the Rubaiya Sayeed case the next day.—KMS
