ISLAMABAD – A sessions court in Islamabad on Saturday reserved its ruling in the high-profile murder case of Sarah Inaam, after all parties concluded arguments.
Sessions Judge Nasir Javed presided over court proceedings today and stated that the verdict of murder case of Sara Inam, daughter-in-law of renowned journalist Ayaz Ameer, will be announced on December 14 (Thursday).
Sarah Inaam, a Canadian citizen, was allegedly murdered by Shahnawaz, her husband and son of renowned journalist Ayaz Amir, in Islamabad a year ago.
The court reserved the verdict as the lawyer of the accused gave final arguments. Prime accused Shahnawaz Amir, his mother Samina Shah were also present in the courtroom.
During Saturday’s hearing, Shahnawaz’s mother Samina recalled Sarah as a very sweet child and apprised the court after their relationship. Recalling the day of the murder, Samina said his son called him and when she went to him, he was not in sense.
She then mentioned having a conversation with her husband as he mentioned Ayaz about Sarah’s tragic death.
Earlier, the prosecution called for the interrogation of Samina Shah calling her an accused in the high-profile murder case.
In November this year, Shahnawaz rejected all evidence submitted by the prosecution against him, calling the framing of charges baseless. He mentioned visiting market and on arrival, he could not find Sarah in room and upon searching, he found her lying in a bathtub.
He made the statement after confessing to committing murder and said that he thought Sarah was having an affair with someone else and killed his wife in an act of self-defence.
