JUI chief asks British envoy to focus more on women, children of Gaza Britain has sought JUI chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s help over the issue of women’s education in neighbouring Afghanistan, currently governed by Taliban.
The request was delivered by British High Commissioner to Pakistan Jane Marriott during a meeting with the Maulana at his residence in Islamabad on Thursday.
Both sides also issued a string of issues including the Israeli aggression in Gaza and the repatriation of illegal Afghan refugees. The British delegation led by Jane Marriott also including HC Political Secretary Sam Fletcher. The two sides also threw light on Pakistan’s relations with India and Afghanistan. The UK envoy appealed to Maulana Fazl for cooperation on the issue of women’s education in Afghanistan which has banned its female population from getting education.
Fazl advised the international community to promote dialogue with Afghanistan and resolve its issues with Taliban. “We support women’s education but keeping in view Afghanistan and Pashtun’s Islamic background, the Taliban government is working to create an environment suitable for imparting education to its female population,” he added.
He further said the law and order is improving fast in Afghanistan. “All issues along with peace will be resolved accordingly,” he added. The JUI chief reminded the British envoy that those who are concerned about Afghan women’s education should divert their attention towards the women and children of Gaza where Israeli military is trampling the human rights.
