The Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control Department of Punjab is responsible for collection of various taxes and duties, including motor vehicle token tax, across the province.
The excise receives one-time token tax on vehicles with engine capacity up to 1000cc while it is received on annual basis on vehicles with engine capacity above 1000cc.

The new Suzuki Alto has a 3-cylinder 660cc engine, means the excise department collects one-time tax from owners of this vehicle.
It receives Rs15,000 for one time in wake of token tax on each unit of Alto.
