LAHORE – Lahore High Court on Tuesday announced the closure of restaurants and markets in Lahore country by 10 pm amid hazardous levels of air pollution.
Justice Shahid Karim of the Lahore High Court directed the provincial government to shut down all businesses by 10 pm daily as the city of over 20 million is cloaked in thick smog.
The court resumed the hearing on environment-related petitions, and directed authorities to enforce the closure of all markets, restaurants, and other businesses by 10 pm.
LHC judge directed the Punjab chief secretary, and CCPO Lahore to ensure the implementation of court orders.
The court further directed local officials to issue notification regarding the 2-day work-from-home policy for banks and offices.
Lahore Air Quality
On Tuesday, the provincial capital ranked the world’s most polluted city amid efforts by the government to curb alarming high levels of air pollution.
The city witnessed Air Quality Index (AQI) of over 300 Swiss group IQAir, causing poisonous particles in the atmosphere to move downwards and making the atmosphere polluted.
