UO seminar promotes Breast Cancer awareness

The University of Okara’s (UO) Directorate of Career Counselling, in collaboration with the Okara Patients Welfare Association (OPWA), organized a seminar aimed at raising awareness about breast cancer. The event featured esteemed speakers who shared valuable insights and information regarding the prevention, early detection, and treatment of breast cancer.

The seminar opened with a welcome by DrNasrinAkhter, Director Career Counseling, who emphasized the significance of such initiatives. She stated, “Breast cancer is a critical health issue that affects many women in our society. It is crucial to raise awareness and provide information that can potentially save lives. We are proud to host this event in collaboration with OPWA.”

The keynote speaker was DrWalijaShamkha from Sahiwal Medical College. She highlighted the importance of early detection. “Breast cancer can be effectively treated when diagnosed in its early stages,” she stressed. “Regular self-examinations and mammograms can be life-saving tools. Do not delay, get checked today.”

The other speakers included Dr Fatima Rasheed, Dr Maryam Yousaf, Dr Ayesha Khan and DrSaleha. Muhammad Asghar, Marketing Manager of OPWA, and Sadiq Amin, a senior administrative officer of the UO, also shared their insights with the audiences.

The event concluded with DrNasrin expressing her gratitude to the speakers and participants for their contributions to raising awareness about breast cancer.

“By collaborating with organizations like OPWA, we can make a significant impact on our community’s health and well-being,” she emphasized.
