Caretaker Provincial Health Minister Dr. Saad Khalid Niaz said in view of the emergence of fresh polio case in the city, another week-long anti-polio drive will be launched in Karachi from October 30.  He appealed to the parents to get their children vaccinated against poliovirus during the upcoming drive which will be continued till November 05, 2023.  Addressing a meeting to review anti polio campaign, the minister said Pakistan can be made a polio-free state only with the cooperation of parents with the polio teams.

Dr. Saad Khalid Niaz said that the resumption of the anti-polio campaign in Karachi is inevitable after the diagnosis of the confirmed polio case and the positive samples obtained from the sewage.  He told the parents who immunized their children during last campaign, should again vaccinate them during the fresh polio drive.

Earlier, the minister was briefed about anti-polio campaigns and suggested that though the result of the recently held anti-polio drive was satisfactory but there was need of further vaccination in different areas.
