Birmingham City Council crowned the United Kingdom-based Pakistani / Kashmiri Diaspora community’s NGO “Be The Merciful” with the Inspirational Community Award at a ceremony hosted at the City Council’s Community Hall in Birmingham Wednesday to mark the celebrations of 10-year journey and services of the organization to the community, says a message received here on Thursday.
The host and chief guest the Lord Mayor of Birmingham Councilor Muhammad Azim gave away shields and awards to the BTM Executive Team as acknowledgment of their services to the community.
“We are blessed and privileged called by the Birmingham Lord Mayor for this inspirational award as first Asian Muslim British Pakistani women Organization”, said Sumaira Farrukh, founder chairperson of the organization said on this occasion.“Credit goes to all team our sponsors, volunteers and supporters”, she added.
The ceremony was addressed and attended among others by the chief guest, the Lord Mayor Clr. Azim, Mrs Sumaira Farrukh, founder chairperson Ms Aneela Asad founder president and Mrs Memona Khan, Vice President of the BTM organisation.
It may be mentioned here that ‘Be The Merciful’ social welfare outfit is primarily engaged with aims and objectives to work with divers communities to enhance interfaith harmony and peace and to raise voice against any injustice specially gener based violence around the globe.
Moreover, the BTM has focused on helping women by providing services in referrals for counseling social care and support and to empower women by education, skills, development and awareness.—APP
