The US Acting Consul General Jimmy Mauldin and Rashid Hussain Ambassador at Large for religious freedom along with the senior officials of the state department called on the Caretaker minister for Home and Prisons Sindh Brig. (R) Haris Nawaz at his office and discussed matters of mutual interest. The Home Minister briefed the delegation on the important achievements of the government, especially in the internal security and minorities rights/ protection domain. The Home Minister informed the delegates that the results were being achieved in improving the internal security and ensuring protection to the rights of the minorities.
The two sides discussed the quota reserved for the minority community for government jobs, forced conversion, and blasphemy incidents.“A Special Police Force consisting of 4000 security personnel has been established in Sindh Province to ensure foolproof security arrangements of worship places of minorities all over the province.
CCTVs are also installed at and around the worship places belong to minorities”, the Home Minister observed. Appreciating the commitment of the Sindh government to promoting peace, security and protection to minority rights, the delegates reaffirmed U.S support to work on areas of mutual interest. Minister was assisted by Provincial Home Secretary MuhammdIqbalMemon in the meeting.
