The All Parties Hurriyat Conference has expressed its concern over the plight of illegally detained Hurriyat leaders and activists and appealed to United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres to put pressure on India to release the detainees and resolve the Kashmir dispute as per Security Council resolutions.
The APHC spokesperson in a statement issued in Srinagar said India is targeting Hurriyat leaders and activists for their political beliefs. He said APHC Chairman Masarrat Aalam Butt, Shabbir Ahmad Shah, Muhammad Yasin Malik, Aasiya Andrabi, Dr. Muhammad Qasim Faktu, Naeem Ahmad Khan, Nahida Nasreen, Fahmida Sufi, Ayaz Muhammad Akbar, Pir Saifullah, Raja Merajuddin. Kalwal, Shahidul Islam, Dr. Abdul Hamid Fayyaz, Farooq Ahmad Dar, Syed Shahid Yusuf, Syed Shakeel Yusuf, Muhammad Yusuf Falahi, Muhammad Rafiq Ganai, Bilal Siddiqui, Maulvi Bashir Ahmed Irfani, Umar Adil Dar, Zafar Akbar Butt, Sharif Sartaj, Hayat Ahmed Butt and others have been detained in the jails of India and occupied Jammu and Kashmir where they are deprived of all basic facilities.
The statement regretted that India has turned the entire Occupied Jammu and Kashmir into a military camp and is inflicting worst atrocities on innocent Kashmiris.
The spokesperson urged UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres to take notice of Indian state terrorism and heinous war crimes in Kashmir and play role in resolving the long-standing conflict in accordance with UN Security Council resolutions.—KMS
