Political experts and analysts have said that independent journalism is facing state repression in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir and India as Modi’s India is busy tightening its grip on media.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the political experts and analysts in their interviews and statements in Srinagar said the Modi regime is using different intimidating tactics to harass journalists in IIOJK and India.
They said the media is facing immense pressure to toe Hindutva line in the occupied territory and India, adding the Modi regime is trampling basic principles of press freedom as journalists are threatened and abused on social media by the Hindutva brigade for exposing the Modi government’s failures.
The political experts and analysts lamented that journalists in India were increasingly facing intimidation by Hindutva forces for running stories critical of the Bharatiya Janata Party regime. Since 5th Aug 2019, journalists have faced an intensified crackdown in the territory, they deplored.
They further said that journalists were booked under draconian laws, Public Safety Act (PSA) and Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) for speaking truth in IIOJK
The political experts and analysts said most of the mainstream media outlets in India have been corrupted by BJP and are run by Indian agencies and many media organizations in India are owned by BJP & RSS business tycoons who work for Hindutva policies.
They said the Modi regime must be punished for muzzling independent press in the occupied Jammu and Kashmir and India.—KMS
