Caretaker Minister for Livestock Ibrahim Murad said on Saturday that strengthening of the livestock was among the top priorities of the federal and Punjab governments.
He said this while addressing the participants of the round table dialogue on the Livestock Sector Development in Pakistan.
Livelihood of most of people in rural area was linked with the livestock sector, he added.
The caretaker minister said that there was a huge potential for livestock in export market and the government was focusing in this regard.
Ibrahim Murad said that he was feeling happy to tell that the livestock department became successful in setting up first disease-free compartment in the country.
It is pertinent to mention here that participants of the dialogue discussed challenges facing the livestock sector and their possible solutions.
Researchers, experts and representatives of meat, poultry and dairy industry presented proposals to make the livestock sector more efficient.
Caretaker Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research Professor Dr Kausar Abdullah Malik also participated in the dialogue.—APP
