Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) has paid glowing tributes to renowned Kashmiri leader Shaheed-e-Azeemat Sheikh Abdul Aziz ahead of his 15th martyrdom anniversary.

In a statement issued in Srinagar, today, the DFP spokesman, while highlighting the supreme sacrifices rendered by the martyred leader, said that Shaheed Sheikh Abdul Aziz was truly a man of honesty and integrity who devoted his entire life to the Kashmir cause.

Referring to the martyred leader’s role in the ongoing liberation struggle, he said that he was one of the pioneers of the freedom movement who went through trials and tribulations during his years’ long struggle for the right to self-determination.

He said that Sheikh Abdul Aziz Shaheed would be remembered for a long time in the annals of Kashmir history for his indomitable role and peerless contribution in the freedom struggle.

Recalling the incarcerated party chairman Shabir Ahmed Shah’s long association with the martyred leader, the DFP spokesman said that both the leaders had worked together for years and served the noble cause of freedom with utmost dedication and commitment.

Sheikh Abdul Aziz was shot dead by Indian troops on 11 August in 2008 while he was leading a procession from Srinagar to Line of Control against economic blockade of Kashmir Valley by Hindu extremists based in Jammu.—KMS
