Minister for planning and development Ahsan Iqbal on Friday wrote to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to stop Higher Education Commission (HEC) amendment bill.
Iqbal wrote that he expected PM to restore the bill in its original shape and bill was about to be tabled in the parliament without discussion and deliberation. “I hope that you will stop the bill,” he added.
He went on to write that the amendments to the NAB Ordinance was equivalent to stealing its independence. “The amendment will bring the HEC under the ministry of education,” he added.
