Detained senior leader of All Parties Hurriyet Conference (APHC), Shabbir Ahmad Shah has expressed serious concern over the deteriorating political and human rights situation in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
In a message from Tihar Jail, Shah said Kashmiris are suffering persecution at the hands of Narendra Modi-led Indian government for demanding their right to self-determination.
He said the Kashmiri Hurriyet leaders and activists are being put behind bars for their political beliefs, adding that top pro-freedom leaders have been implicated in false cases to discredit them.
He urged the international community to play its role in facilitating a just and peaceful settlement of the Kashmir dispute in accordance with the relevant UN Security Council resolutions and the wishes of the Kashmiris.
In his message from Tihar jail, the detained Shah said the Indian authorities have intensified state terrorism on the Kashmiris, mainly targeting pro-freedom leaders, activists and civil society members who have been critical of the Modi regime’s communal policies.
He said the international community should mount pressure on India and demand the Modi-regime to stop the use of state repression to crush political dissent in Kashmir.—KMS
