In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kahsmir, despite public objections, the administration of Ladakh region has re-notified for a period of ten years a field firing range spread over five lakh Kanals and being used by the Indian Army in Kargil district.

The Home Department of the territory has issued a notification, declaring an area of 5,69,911 Kanals and 17 Marlas situated at village Matayen Kharu, district Kargil as an area for carrying out periodical field firing and artillery practice by the Indian Army for a period of ten years with effect from 18th May 2023.

The move comes two months after people raised objections over re-notification of the field firing range.
