Ambassador of Pakistan to Ghana Farhat Ayesha has said that Ghana is biggest trade partner of Pakistan in West Africa as trade between the two countries is worth 67 million dollars and there is a strong chance of growth.

She stated this while hosting a dinner in honour of the Pakistani trade delegation visiting Ghana.

The delegation is visiting the African country under the leadership of Umar Shahid Butt, Vice Consul of Ghana in Pakistan to explore business opportunities.

The dinner was attended by ambassadors of different countries posted in Ghana, representatives of the National Chamber of Commerce, representatives of the Ghana Investment Promotion Center and the Association of Ghana Industries. Speaking at the dinner ceremony, Farhat Ayesha said this is the second major interaction between the business delegations of the two countries during the last eleven months.

Earlier, a Ghanaian business delegation visited Pakistan in February and participated in a trade exhibition held at Lahore.

A joint business council was established which is playing a key role in promoting business and industrial relations between the two countries.

Speaking on this occasion, Umar Shahid Butt said that there is a stable government in Ghana, a large percentage of the Ghanaian population is literate and the workforce is skilled, which makes Ghana an ideal country for business.

There is a lot of scope for increasing the trade volume between Pakistan and Ghana, he said and noted that due to the pandemic and Ukraine war, the developing economies are currently facing difficulties which can be overcome by promoting mutual trade.
