STAFF REPORTER
Public transport vehicles particularly route number 120 are violating their designated routes in federal capital. The commuters who travelled daily between Golra Sharif and Bari Imam were facing problems due to non-compliance of route number 120 by the public transporters. “I got on a wagon of route number 120 from Aabpara stop. After boarding the vehicle, the conductor told me that they would only go as far as to Karachi company,” a commuter at Karachi Company bus stop complained. However, the same vehicle later departed for Golra Sharif after charging double fares from passengers, he alleged. The commuters complained that the transporters violated routes to mint extra money from passengers, forcing them to pay double the fare for an incomplete route. The commuters demanded that there should be an effective mechanism to ensure route completion by the transporters and grievances of the commuters should be addressed. The commuters said that the authorities concerned should take stern action against the transporters involved in route violations An official of Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) said that a help-line had been established to address the grievances of the commuters. He said that the commuters could register their complaints in case of route violation or overcharging by transporters. He said that the commuters could complain to the on-duty traffic wardens observing duties on the main roads of the city
