RAWALPINDI – Journey of beleaguered Quetta Gladiators in Pakistan Super League season 8 comes to an end as Multan Sultans bagged Saturday’s game with a nine-run victory at Pindi Cricket Stadium.

Today’s game was no less than a delight for Sultans fans as Usman Khan hit the fastest century of the leading cricket league before Abbas Afridi’s five-wicket haul, helping his side to continue the momentum in the game.

Chasing a mammoth target of 263, Quetta Gladiators were restricted to 253-8 in limited overs.

Power blaster Jason Roy failed to create a big show today as he returned on 6 while Martin Guptill scored a quick 37 off 14. Omair Yousuf helped his side to get 67 off 36 while Iftikhar Ahmed scored 53 off 31.

As middle order players pushed Gladiators to 253 but they fell short in the crucial game of the event.

For Rizwan-led Sultans, Abbas Afridi remained in the spotlight with impressive 5-47 figures including a hat-trick.

In the first half of the game, Sultan’s opener Usman Khan slammed the fastest ton in Pakistan Super League season 8, etching his name in history books as the franchise slammed the highest total of 262-3.  He outshined fellow player Rilee Rossouw’s record of the fastest ton in 41 balls.

Skipper Mohammad Rizwan played a beautiful knock of 55 runs in 29 balls with help of six boundaries and two maximums. Tim David remained unbeaten on 43 runs.

For Gladiators, Qais got two scalps, and Mohammad Nawaz got one wicket.
