The All Parties Hurriyat Conference leaders and organizations have said that Narendra Modi-led fascist Indian government cannot hide the reality about the deteriorating ground situation in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir by resorting to propaganda through its pliant media.
They said the Modi regime is trying to mislead world by using its propaganda machinery and publishing fake reports of the so-called peace and development in the occupied territory. By doing so, they said, New Delhi aims to divert the attention of the international community from its atrocities and ulterior motives in IIOJK.
The APHC leaders and organizations including Ghulam Muhammad Khan Sopori, Syed Bashir Andrabi, Khawaja Firdous, Zamruda Habib, Farida Bahenji, Yasmeen Raja, Khadim Hussain, Sibte Shabbir Qummi, Muhammad Yasin Attai, Dr Musab, Democratic Freedom Party and Jammu and Kashmir Muslim League in their statements in Srinagar said that after the revocation of Article 370, the Modi regime is attempting to show the world that new era of so-called development has started in occupied Jammu and Kashmir. But, they said, the fact of the matter is that the unilateral and illegal actions of 5th August 2019 and other despotic measures taken thereafter by the Indian government have added to the miseries of the Kashmiri people and further aggravated the already volatile situation in the south Asian region.
They deplored that India has turned the occupied territory into military garrison to create an atmosphere of fear and its illegal moves on and after 5 August 2019 have put IIOJK into a reverse gear in all spheres of life. They asked how peace and development can happen in IIOJK when it has become the world’s most militarized zone and the situation is so grim.
The APHC leaders and organizations pointed out that no sane investor will even think of investing in Kashmir which is a nuclear flashpoint in the region. They added that the Kashmiris do not demand development but their foremost demand is the holding of plebiscite under the UN supervision.
They maintained that the people of IIOJK are not against peace and development but breaking shackles of Indian slavery is their prime objective. However, they lamented that the international community’s silence has emboldened India to continue crushing the Kashmiris’ voice for their right to self-determination with brute military force, thus endangering the regional peace. They made it clear that lasting peace and prosperity in the region is not possible till the dispute over Kashmir is resolved as per the Kashmiris’ aspirations.—KMS
