WASA launches operation against defaulters

The Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) Rawalpindi launched a massive crackdown against water defaulters and imposed heavy fine on them. According to the authority spokesman, operation has been launched on the special direction of Managing Director (MD) Tanveer Ahmed as Deputy Managing Director WASA supervising this grand operation.

WASA teams under the supervision of Inspector Amar Yaz took part in the operations that conducted in the different localities of Rawalpindi city including Commercial Market, Seventh Road, Chandni Chowk, Raja Bazar, Mohanpura and other areas. During the operation teams inspected door to door and checked water bills, functionality of connections of defaulters and payments of bills. Several water connections of defaulters disconnected and imposed heavy fines on them. During the operation teams also sealed 12 commercial plazas and disconnected their meters. WASA staff also seized the water motors of 30 housed and disconnected the supply.

WASA spokesperson viewed that department teams were regular visiting the houses, commercial centers, markets and plazas to check the functionalities of the meters, water supply and teams also check the bills to identify the defaulters and water thieves.
