Kashmir Solidarity forum inaugurated at PMAS-AAUR

The inaugural ceremony of the Kashmir Solidarity Forum was held in PMAS-Arid Agriculture University, Rawalpindi in conjunction with the annual observance of Kashmir Day. The forum aims to establish a forum in the university to show the support for the people of Jammu and Kashmir and to raise awareness about the ongoing struggle for self-determination and human rights in the region amongst the faculty and the students.

The ceremony was attended by the Vice Chancellor of PMAS-AAUR Prof. Dr. Qamar-uz-Zaman, Mishal Hussain Malik, Rehana Malik, numerous faculty members, management staff and students. In his welcome address, the Vice Chancellor of the University Prof. Dr. Qamar-uz-Zaman emphasized the need for the international community to take notice of the human rights abuses being committed by the Indian military in Jammu and Kashmir and to support the right to self-determination for the people of the region. He said that this forum will provide a space for faculty and students to come together and work towards a common goal of promoting peace, justice, and human rights for the people of Kashmir. While addressing Mishal Hussain Malik said that after the revocation of Kashmir’s special status, Indian forces increased their control over the region with measures such as night curfews, abductions and violent killings of young people, harassment, and lockdown. She said that every Kashmiri who advocates for their right to self-determination is being shot dead, she said.
