CHINA has once again expressed serious concern over massive human rights violations in Occupied Kashmir and extended its full support for the just cause of Kashmiri people. Chinese Ambassador Yao Jing, while speaking at a reception hosted on the occasion of Chinese Lunar New Year, declared that his country will continue supporting Pakistan on the Kashmir issue, which is an issue of international justice. He hoped that the world community will fulfil its responsibility in this connection and ensure justice to the people of Kashmir.
Chinese steadfast support for Pakistan and people of Kashmir for their just struggle is a matter of satisfaction especially one sees intriguing silence by some influential members of the international community for the sake of economic and commercial interests. China has all along been considering Kashmir a disputed territory urging both Pakistan and India for its peaceful and negotiated settlement. It was in this backdrop that Beijing showed extreme concern when India unilaterally and illegally annexed the occupied territory. China, from the very first day, highlighted that the decision of the Indian government that changes the status of Kashmir will have a very negative repercussion on peace and stability in the region and this is evident from the latest situation. In an attempt to divert attention of the world community from its black deeds in Occupied Kashmir, both civilian and military leadership of India is hurling naked threats on Pakistan. They are even threatening to grab Azad Kashmir, forgetting that any misadventure would evoke firm response from Pakistan and such an eventuality would imperil peace and security of the entire region. China is also playing a praiseworthy role at the UN in highlighting the situation in Occupied Kashmir where Indian forces have unleashed unprecedented repression against Kashmiri people, emphasizing the need to reverse India’s illegal measures. At the instance of Pakistan and China, the UN Security Council on Wednesday took up for discussion the ongoing situation in Jammu and Kashmir. This was third time the UNSC discussed the Kashmir situation since the revocation of its special status and the discussion took place at the request of China despite strong opposition by some other members on flimsy grounds. People of Pakistan and Kashmiris are grateful to our great friend for its continued principled based support which would go a long way in influencing the overall thinking of the international public opinion on this vital issue.
