All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) chapter has paid rich tribute to the martyrs of the Sopore massacre.
The APHC-AJK organized a conference, today, on the anniversary of the martyrs of the Sopore massacre under the chairmanship of Convener Mahmood Ahmed Saghar.
Addressing the conference, Hurriyat leaders said that it was on this day in January 1993 when Indian troops massacred innocent people in Sopore and set hundreds of shops and houses on fire. He added that the great sacrifices of the martyrs were a valuable asset of the freedom movement, which the Kashmiris would protect at all costs.
The Hurriyat leaders said that India had failed to suppress the freedom spirit of the Kashmiris with all its brutal tactics and tyranny. They said that India should shun the path of oppression and realise the ground realities of the occupied territory and give the Kashmiris their birthright to self-determination.
The Hurriyat leaders maintained that durable peace and development in the region was not possible until the lingering Kashmir dispute was resolved in accordance with the United Nations resolutions and the will of the Kashmiri people.
Besides Mahmood Ahmed Saghar, Ghulam Muhammad Safi, Altaf Hussain Wani, Sheikh Abdul Mateen, Hassan Bana, Muhammad Hussain Khateeb, Sanaullah Dar, Zahid Safi, Raja Khadim Hussain, Mian Muzaffar, Adeel Mushtaq Wani, Zahid Ashraf, Gulshan Ahmed, Ashfaq Balwal, Sheikh Abdul Majid and Imtiaz Wani addressed the conference.
At the end of the function, prayers were offered for the elevation of ranks of the martyrs of Kashmir and former Amir of Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Qazi Hussain Ahmed.
On the occasion, the APHC-AJK leaders expressed their grief and sorrow over the deaths of Hurriyat activists Nasrullah Khaki and Muhammad Umar, and expressed solidarity with the bereaved families.
