The district administration and Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) Badin organized the massive rally here on Friday to observe International Ant-Corruption Day.
The massive rally, led by Additional Deputy Commissioner-II, Badin Waqar Ahmed Kalwar, Circle Officer, Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) Badin, Safdar Panhwar commenced from DC Secretariat and concluded at DC Chowk Badin when large number of the participants including representatives of different departments, local active organizations and citizens.
The observance of the day was aimed at highlighting rights and responsibilities of every individual, which includes government officials, civil servants, law enforcement officers, media representatives, the private sector, civil society and others.
While a addressing the massive rally speakers including Waqar Ahmed Kalwar, ADC-II, Mohammad Majid Altaf, Assistant Commissioner Badin, Abdul Ghafar Khoso, Deputy Director, Social Welfare Department Badin, Sarfraz Ahmed Samoon, District Information Officer Badin and others terming corruption a major national issue, said serious efforts should be made to weed out the menace of corruption saying that corruption was a major obstacle to any country’s progress & development.
They said that corruption affects every area in our society and preventingcorruption unlocks progress towards sustainable development adding they called for a pledge to make collective efforts to eradicate “cancer of corruption that eats deeper into the moral fabric of our society”.
They said that survey report of International Transparency 2021 stressed over us for more work hard for eradication of the corruption menace in the beloved country.
The speakers said that corruption contributes to instability and poverty and is a dominant factor driving developed countries towards state failure adding that menace won’t end unless all stakeholders of the society don’t play their role affectively.
It is high time to unite the role of key stakeholders and individuals in the elimination of corruption by sharing best practices and examples of preventing and countering corruption, they said. The participants of the rally also chanted slogans against corruption and corrupt practices.
Earlier, the seminar was also organized at Darbar hall Badin which was also participated by large number of the participants and representatives of different departments, organizations and citizens.
It is pertinent to mention that International Anti-Corruption Day has celebrated on December 09, across the world under the theme of “Uniting the World Against Corruption” to highlight the crucial link between anti-corruption and peace, security, and development.
